Normally take-out orders take 15 to 30 minutes for pickup orders depending on the size of the order. Add 15 minutes if it is a delivery order. DELIVERY CHARGE Cost for delivery is $4 within Stratford. Delivery outside of the area will be charged whatever the carrier is charging. Cash or credit card only. We do not have Debit on Delivery. RESERVATIONS Although reservations are generally not needed, we wil take them. Large parties of 10 or more should book in advance to ensure seating. CREDIT CARDS & INTERAC (DIRECT PAYMENT) We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Interac. You can order take-out delivery and pay by any of these cards except for Interac/debit. MSG - monosodium glutemate MSG occurs naturally in a lot of foods and some people have a sensitivity or reaction to the substance. Common mild reactions to MSG can be being thirsty, redness in the face and headaches. MSG is common to a lot of Chinese foods and fast food restaurants. It is often added as a "flavour enhancer". Some items at Gene's Restaurant do contain MSG notably egg rolls, spring rolls, gravy, and most stir fry items. Since most of the stir fry are made "short order" and from scratch, the MSG can be left out if requested. Please inquire with the server if MSG can be left out of the items that you request. HOME MADE The following are some of the things we make ourselves: Sweet & Sour Sauce, Honey Sauce, Plum Sauce, Pineapple Sauce, Chilli Sauce, Lemon Sauce, Gravy, Teriyaki Sauce, Szechuan Sauce, Egg Rolls, Chicken Balls, Wonton Soup, Hot & Sour Soup etc. In fact there is very little that we don't make ourselves. SMOKING / NON-SMOKING The dining room is now fully non-smoking since the City of Stratford has banned smoking in public areas. OUTDOOR PATIO Our patio is licensed for alcohol. Our "cozy" patio has 3 tables and has a seating capacity of 7. LONGEST SERVING EMPLOYEE Donna Commerford was an employee at Gene's Restaurant starting in 1981 until 2003. She was known as a "character" and for her outrageous wigs! Donna recently passed away and will be missed by all who knew her. DRAGON BOAT Gene's Restaurant is a big supporter of dragon boat in the area sponsoring several of the area's competitve teams. Owner / operator Ken Gene co-founded the dragon boat festival with another area canoest Brian McNeil-Smith. Ken also coaches the teams in the area.
